Golf Shot to Remember

What is my definition of a golf shot to remember? Choosing the shots that stand out is both complicated and simple. The most memorable include those awesome golf shots that keep you coming back to play, especially when you finally hit the shot you have been trying to hit for the past three months. Shots worth recounting often include moments such as when you make a clutch putt to save par and so much more. A golf shot to remember is one shot that went well on your golf outing.
This installment of my golf shot to remember is my drive on a 159 yard par 3. On numerous occasions, my tee shot has not found the green; rather, it tended to land in the bunker to right of the green. However, I modified my alignment and was able to avoid the bunker. Then, my challenge was that the golf ball flew straight at the green, but always short of the green. Thus, shooting par on this hole required me to hit a good second shot—one good enough to one putt.
When I hit my shot to remember I didn’t swing harder than usual, but I was completely focused on the pin placement. The pin was close to the front and center of the green. I was determined to give myself a chance at par. My golf ball landed just over the fringe and on the green. I wish I could say I wanted to cheer. Rather, the truth is that my first response was “Finally!” Driving that green has been a challenge for me for a while and I can honestly say it was a nice feeling of accomplishment to see my drive laying on that green. When we approached the green, my golf ball was positioned nicely, about 3’ from the pin. At that point, I was very excited; this was no longer about par. I had the opportunity to birdie. Thanks to my golf shot to remember, I had a simple putt and enjoyed knowing a two would be written on my scorecard!
