I Love A Golf Challenge
![]()
Today, we celebrate love. I do have a bit of a romantic side, but the love I am discussing today has nothing to do with romance and has everything to do with golf. (Shocking, I know!)
What do I love about golf? After asking myself this question, I realized one of the aspects I love about golf is the challenge. I love taking risks when the biggest consequence will be my golf ball at the bottom of a pond. I like hitting or, should I say, trying to hit shots that are not golf shots expected of someone with my golf ability. On the golf course I play most often, one of the men’s tees is only a water hazard away from the tee to the green. Some days I will skip the women’s tee and hit from the men’s tee, just for the fun of trying to hit over the water. Water hazards have always been a challenge for me. Trying to “conquer” the pond is like a game for me. In fact, it’s golf shots like this that I love. Playing for the pure joy of trying to hit the green, recovering from a ridiculous tee shot or making a clutch putt are all challenges that I love about golf. Will I attempt to hit golf shots way beyond my skill level? Yes! Often, success is not the outcome, but when I do pull off that line drive through the trees to the front of the green it’s exciting. It’s joy and, yes, it’s love.
