Golf Swing Needed

I have always heard golfers say, “You have to play a lot to be a good golfer.”  I have no idea if it is actually true, but it felt like very good advice to me during a recent golf outing.  Starting with my first swing off of the first tee, I would describe my golf swing as nearly non-existent.  My shoulders, arms and hips reminded me of the Tin Man character in the classic Wizard of Oz movie.  Like the Tin Man, all my joints seemed rusted together with no lubrication to move.  It had been a couple of weeks since I had played a round of golf; I’d been very busy and nearly glued to my laptop for days on end.  My golf swing appeared to be a casualty.  However, the 9 hole outing was not a complete disaster.  As poorly as I played, I was committed to keep swinging.  After re-arranging my schedule the next day, I headed back to the golf course, determined to feel some actual swing in my golf swing.  After this 9 hole round, I managed to “oil” my golf swing and lowered my score into my normal range (10 strokes less than the previous day).  So, is the saying, “You have to play a lot to be a good golfer” a cliché?  I still have no idea if this is true.  What I do know, though, is that I need to add more stretching to my weekly routine.
