The Debut of My 7 Wood

Blue skies and a light breeze made for a beautiful afternoon to play golf. I had no other obligations for the day and decided to play 18 holes. As I made my way around the golf course, I could feel the fatigue from a crowded week of activity creeping into my muscles – especially in my arms. Reviewing the clubs in my golf bag, I looked for a club that would help me gain some extra distance. I spied my 7 wood, which is a club I just added to my bag this year. The 7 wood seems to be popular with the “must-have” golf club submissions to golfoutloud.com and to facebook/golfoutloud.com. I have also been impressed at how effectively and consistently my friend Sherry utilizes her 7 wood. Several holes remained when I pulled out my 7 wood for its debut. A garden hoe would probably have produced results of the same caliber as my initial swings with this club. However, when I finally made contact and my golf ball sailed toward the green, I could see the potential in my 7 wood. Could it become one of my favorite women’s golf clubs? Would I ever have confidence in using it like I do when I swing my 3 iron? The next step will be some practice at the driving range to see if I can actually use this club to hit with any consistency. I will keep you posted on my progress.
