I Forgot Something

After a week that included thunderstorms, an earthquake and a hurricane here in North Carolina, it was a beautiful day filled with blue skies and sunshine. I decided I really wanted some fresh air and thought I could maneuver my mid-morning tasks to the end of the day and sneak out of the office for 9-holes of golf. On my drive to the course I was so thankful I had made the time and was already enjoying this lovely day. After a quick visit to the pro shop, I loaded my clubs on the cart and realized that something didn’t feel right. I peered down and discovered that I was wearing sandals. I had forgotten my golf shoes. In fact, I could visualize them by the door where I had left them. The moment of truth was upon me. If there was any chance I was going to play golf that day, I would have to return to the office pronto. Keeping my eyes focused on my golf clubs, trunk and golf cart, I promised myself that I’d come back to the course later—with proper shoes. I got a rain check and drove back to the office, willing myself back to work. Even though I was still disappointed, the drive was a nice opportunity to indulge in a little sunshine.

I went on a road trip for a weekend golf tournament. I packed my golf shoes. When I got to the course, I found I had packed two right shoes. Nothing else to do but buy a new pair of shoes.
